What’s in a Crunchy name?

Since, like many bloggers, I don’t use The Hamster’s real name in my blog, I will sidestep this question and talk a little about the name “Crunchy”, as in, “The Not Quite Crunchy Parent”. I’m often surprised that people don’t know to what I am referring when I use the word, “Crunchy”, which shows you how caught up in my own little world I can be at times.

The name "Crunchy" came from the new generation of hippies that seem to only eat things that crunch: granola, nuts, alfalfa, hay, Grape Nuts and a popular mixture appropriately named Gorp (easy to make: just throw all the aforementioned items in a plastic bag and shake). http://wrt-intertext.syr.edu/I1/wachtel.html

Or from Wikipedia

...having sensibilities of a counter-culture nature lover or hippie; derived from the concept of crunchy granola.

Now that granola has gone mainstream and “crunchy” living is all the rage, this word will fade from the American lexicology in time…but not yet.

I knew what "Crunchy" means. Then again, I have been dubbed "the hippie" among my circle of friends. :) Just because I walk around barefoot and have homebirths. Sheesh. :)

Hi ya MC-
I wanted you to know that I didn't really do the meme thing yet on this one, but I linked you anyway!
Yesterday's post is all about my dodging of getting the games played.
